Tim Allen Reflects on His Ongoing Acting Career: An Epic Comeback, Like Tom Brady’s
Tim Allen expresses gratitude for his enduring acting career, likening it to Tom Brady's notable comeback. At the Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA premiere in Los Angeles, Allen recognized for his role as Tim Taylor on "Home Improvement" from 1991-1999, shared insights into his long-term presence on TV with Us Weekly.
The resurgence Allen refers to parallels Brady's NFL journey as he returned to the field with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After transitioning from "Home Improvement," Allen dedicated over ten years to films before returning to television with "Last Man Standing" in 2011, portraying Mike Baxter until the show's conclusion in 2021. Recently, he revived his character Scott Calvin in "The Santa Clauses" series for Disney+.
Allen reflects on his extended TV resume, comparing its unpredictability to Brady's 20-year term with the New England Patriots before his stint with the Buccaneers. Brady retired in February 2022 after seven Super Bowl victories – six with the Patriots and one with the Bucs. After briefly stepping back into the limelight for another season, he officially retired in February 2023 and embraced a role at Fox Sports.
Meanwhile, Allen continues on screen, sharing that his passion lies in entertaining. With his latest project, "Shifting Gears," set for a 2025 debut, Allen plays a widower managing a car workshop. Kat Dennings portrays his daughter in this venture.
Anticipation surrounds Allen's involvement in "Toy Story 5," but he's tight-lipped about Disney's plans. A revival of "Home Improvement" looms, particularly given former co-star Patricia Richardson's interest. Allen stresses that his decisions are often family-motivated, thanks to the large family nucleus with his wife Jane Hajduk, and his daughters.
