Adam Sandler Receives Encouragement from Daughters to Prioritize Health
Adam Sandler's daughters are urging him to focus more on his health, much like how he once looked after his own father. In an exclusive interview with People Magazine during the New York City premiere of his Netflix comedy special "Adam Sandler: Love You" on August 20, Sandler, 57, shared that his daughters Sadie, 18, and Sunny, 15, are increasingly concerned about his well-being. "They always look out for me and my health just like I used to with my dad," Sandler said. "You go, ‘Man, I want this guy around,’ so I used to scream at my dad to quit smoking, and my kids scream at me to just calm down and try to eat a little more like a normal person."
This revelation follows Sandler's earlier discussion on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast where Sadie suggested that he should get the same trainer he had when filming You Don't Mess with the Zohan in 2008. "I used to take working out so serious ... and now I can't f-----g do it," Sandler confessed. "I play hoop and then I eat. Every time I'm eating I'm going, 'What are you doing, man? You don't need to do this.' I can't stop, just got a little bit of thickness all over." Staying in shape has become challenging for him, with his daughters frequently reminding him about the trainer from Zohan and questioning why he gave it up. "My kids, one daughter, Sadie's always saying, 'Dad, get the train from the Zohan. Why would you ever give that up? Why did you stop?'" Sandler noted, highlighting that it’s a lot of work but considering the suggestion nonetheless.
Adam shares his two daughters with his wife Jackie Sandler, who joined him at the premiere. Additionally, Sandler mentioned in February that he advises his aspiring actor's daughters to learn by watching the performances of Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan. "Our kids want to be actors. And we go, ‘Well, watch Carey,’" referring to his Netflix Spaceman co-star. Despite these personal challenges, Sandler is actively working, with his comedy special set to release on Tuesday, August 27.
