Adele Opens Up About Painful Ear Infection During Las Vegas Residency
Adele recently shared with her audience at her Las Vegas concert on October 25 that she is dealing with a challenging ear infection leading to partial deafness, describing the experience as more painful than childbirth, PEOPLE reported. During a concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, she explained that the infection resulted from a rare water bacteria she contracted during her 10-date residency in Munich.
In a video circulating Twitter, Adele revealed she felt intense pain, initially received ineffective antibiotics, but later began a proper medication regimen that eased her discomfort. Although no longer in pain, the "Easy on Me" singer mentioned experiencing residual symptoms, including partial deafness in one ear, yet insisted on fulfilling her show commitments despite the challenge.
Commonly found in children, ear infections can occasionally result in hearing loss, though typically, it improves post-infection. On-stage mishaps seem frequent for the Grammy winner as, in the past, she suffered from another infection after performing in humid conditions.
During her tearful recent performance, Adele spotted fellow singer Céline Dion in the crowd and paused to hug her. Despite health woes and previous rescheduling to manage vocal strain better, Adele assured fans of her dedication to continue her Las Vegas performances through November 23 before planning an extensive break from the spotlight.
