Al Pacino Celebrates His Youngest Son, Roman
Al Pacino is clearly proud of his youngest child. The 84-year-old actor shared his thoughts on his 1-year-old son, Roman. "He’s come into the world a little more now," Pacino remarked. "He’s learning things." Pacino welcomed Roman in June 2023 with Noor Alfallah.
In discussing the joy of fatherhood at his age, Pacino revealed that it was a motivating factor in writing his memoir titled Sonny Boy, set for release on Tuesday, October 8. "That has been a campaign for me to stick around a little longer if it’s possible," he explained.
The esteemed actor reflected on the movies he hopes Roman will watch as he grows up. He particularly mentioned his cameo in the 2011 comedy Jack and Jill, starring Adam Sandler, where he appears in a humorous Dunkin' Donuts ad. "I think that’s funny," Pacino shared. "It came at a time in my life that I needed it because it was after I found out I had no more money."
Not long after Roman's birth, Alfallah sought sole physical custody of him and ultimately received it. However, Pacino secured visitation rights and shares legal custody, ensuring he can be involved in key decisions regarding Roman's education, medical care, and religious upbringing. A representative confirmed that Pacino and Alfallah remained together, stating their custody arrangement did not indicate a separation. "Al and Noor have successfully worked together and have mutually reached agreements regarding their child, Roman," the representative noted.
In addition to Roman, Pacino has three other children: 34-year-old daughter Julie with ex Jan Tarrant, and 23-year-old twins Olivia and Anton with ex Beverly D’Angelo. He spoke fondly about expanding his family, calling it "very special" and particularly meaningful at this point in his life. "I’ve got many kids, but this is really special coming at this time," he remarked to the Daily Mail.
Pacino discussed the impact of fatherhood on his life in a 2014 interview. He expressed his desire to be a present father. "Having children has helped a lot. I consciously knew that I didn’t want to be like my dad," he stated. "I wanted to be there."
He emphasized his commitment to his role as a father: "I’m responsible to them. I’m a part of their life. When I’m not, it’s upsetting to me and to them. So that’s part of the gestalt. And I get a lot from it. It takes you out of yourself."
