Brad Pitt Achieves Legal Victory in Winery Dispute With Angelina Jolie as Case Advances Towards Trial

On November 15, 2024, Brad Pitt secured a favorable ruling in his ongoing legal saga with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their shared interest in a French winery, Château Miraval, US Weekly reported. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge decided that the case should proceed to trial, allowing all of Pitt’s claims against Jolie to move forward. This decision acknowledges multiple agreements concerning the shares in their holding company, confirming two interference counts in favor of Pitt.

Although no trial date has been set yet, proceedings might begin by April. This recent development follows the dismissal of Jolie's previous attempt to have the lawsuit thrown out. Both Pitt and Jolie, who are likely to be called for depositions, may not appear in court until 2026.

The legal battle stems from Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit alleging that Jolie sold her shares without his consent, breaching their prior mutual agreement. Documents reveal the couple's initial purchase of the château as a family haven and business, with a commitment never to sell their interests without mutual approval. Married at Miraval in 2014, they split in 2016 following an investigation (later dismissed) into Pitt over a child abuse incident on a family aircraft.

Since being declared single in 2019, Pitt and Jolie, parents to six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne – have faced ongoing legal challenges over their vineyard and child custody issues. Earlier this year, Pitt faced a legal setback when some of his claims were dismissed for lacking a legal basis.

Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, emphasized that the dismissed claims were unrelated to business disputes, framing them instead as attempts to obscure allegations of abuse. Despite the ongoing tensions, Jolie reportedly harbors no resentment towards Pitt.
