Emma Heming Willis openly discusses the impact of her husband Bruce Willis' frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis on their family, PEOPLE reported. As she shares daughters Evelyn, 10, and Mabel, 12, with the 'Die Hard' actor, Heming Willis has chosen not to protect her children from the reality of his health condition. Speaking with Katie Couric for Town & Country, the entrepreneur, 46, emphasized the importance of diagnostics in understanding the disease, which is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.

Heming Willis has been forthright with her children about their father's condition. "They've watched Bruce's health decline over the years," she says, refusing to sugarcoat the situation for them. She believes that when children inquire about something, they are prepared for the answer, guided by their therapist's advice.

Even though FTD is chronic, progressive, and terminal, Heming Willis is focused on raising awareness and maintaining agency in facing this challenge, demonstrating resilience, and making it clear to her children that their father won't recover. It’s essential for her family that they see her fighting for them while assisting other families as well.

In addition to Evelyn and Mabel, she is also the stepmother of Bruce’s elder daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah – with his ex-wife Demi Moore, underscoring her commitment to each member of their blended family during these tough times.
