Teyana Taylor Shades Kayla Nicole Over Halloween Costume
Teyana Taylor expressed her disapproval of Travis Kelce’s ex, Kayla Nicole. This reaction came after Kayla hinted she might dress up as Taylor for Halloween following her rumored relationship with Iman Shumpert.
In a response to Nicole's remark about being "famous at the time," the "Gonna Love Me" singer took action. She highlighted her upcoming projects, such as a Netflix film titled "Straw" and a Dionne Warwick biopic, while featuring Swift’s 2014 hit "Shake It Off" in an Instagram post.
In her social media caption, Taylor playfully stated, "I know 2025 gone hate to see a Taylor coming!! ❤️🔥🌹🎥🎬🎞️ 💸."
Direct Criticism During Podcast Interview
Hours later, Taylor participated in the conversation on Angel Reese’s "Unapologetically Angel" podcast. Here, she tasked herself with directly confronting Nicole’s earlier remarks. During the discussion, Nicole only referred to Taylor as a "singer/actress who was famous at the time," which Taylor took offense to.
"I’m divorced and happily so, however her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for," Taylor commented. She referenced Nicole's comments, stating, "That lady said ‘she was famous at the time’," adding that they were inappropriate.
"She knew exactly what she was doing. It was very distasteful and uncalled for," Taylor emphasized in her since-deleted comment on a Shade Room post about the issue.
Nicole's Response and Independence
Although Nicole later deleted her Halloween costume post, images remain online featuring her dressed as Taylor from Kanye West’s 2016 "Fade" music video. Taylor remarked that she perceived Nicole's intentions as manipulative. Over the course of the fallout, she stated, "I’m finding out just like the world that her intentions were ill and petty."
As the situation unfolded, Taylor accused Nicole of using racial dynamics to unfairly attack her. She claimed to have previously supported Nicole’s Halloween costume, unaware it was intended as a shade.
"Whole time I ain’t even know she was being shady," Taylor expressed. "Now I do."
On a lighter note, she added, "So in that case, petty panties on. I had my little fun, I said what I said, and now I’m done and headed back to set."
Kayla Nicole Stays Unfazed
Nicole reacted to Taylor’s comments on X, stating, "Sometimes I’m asked about my personal life and decide to share the lessons I’ve learned." She reiterated her stance from the podcast and urged others to learn from her past decisions.
This past Saturday, during an indifferent moment, Nicole shared a video on Instagram. She twirled her hair while snippets of Beyoncé's "Formation" played in the background, suggesting that she felt empowered despite the negative press, "You know you that b*tch when you cause all this conversation."
Nicole shared her reasoning for dressing as Taylor during the podcast. At that time, she felt "defeated" and "heartbroken," mentioning how the costume gained significant attention online. She proudly recalled, "I dressed up as that lady for Halloween! It went viral, it was everywhere."
In addition, she remained unfazed about public speculation regarding her past. Taylor and Shumpert, who are now divorced, married in 2016 and share two daughters. Their relationship went Instagram-official in June 2014. Meanwhile, Nicole had an on-and-off relationship with Kelce from 2017 to 2022, while he began dating Swift in summer 2023.
