Warrant Issued for Katie Price's Arrest Due to Failure to Attend Bankruptcy Court Hearing
An arrest warrant has been issued for Katie Price, BBC reported. She failed to attend a court hearing related to her bankruptcies, despite receiving clear warnings of the requirement. HM Revenue & Customs had reached out to her regarding her debts, but she had not responded. The demand for payment was made in October of last year. Previously, a judge warned Ms Price that she risked arrest if she continued to miss court dates and that evidence must be provided if she couldn't appear.
During the hearing, Judge Burton noted that Ms Price had not only failed to attend without explanation but also had not cooperated adequately. She deemed an arrest warrant necessary given Ms Price's non-compliance. The reason for her absence, as mentioned in media reports of her trip to Turkey, was deemed irrelevant. Judge Burton acknowledged that issuing an arrest warrant was not taken lightly but cited Ms. Price's partial cooperation and failure to provide crucial information regarding her bankruptcies as key factors.
Ms Price declared bankruptcy in 2019 and again in March of last year due to unpaid debts and an outstanding tax bill. In a separate matter, she was ordered to forfeit 40% of her income from OnlyFans for three years due to unpaid debts. Previously, Ms Price had expressed frustration with legal threats and suggested she would willingly go to prison to resolve the situation.
The hearing was expected to address concerns about Ms Price's financial situation, including her vehicles. Her barrister confirmed that there was no information available regarding her whereabouts. She had expressed intent to deliver some of her vehicles to the trustee overseeing her bankruptcies, such as her pink Range Rover. However, the vehicles had not been surrendered as promised. The court was informed that detaining Ms Price was necessary to ensure her attendance at future hearings. Though her liberty was at stake, it was anticipated that her custody would be short-term.
The application for Ms Price to attend the hearing had initially been issued in January 2020 but has faced multiple adjournments since then. It's worth noting that she did not request to attend remotely or seek an adjournment for the hearing.
