In a Middle School located in Needham, Massachusetts, a truly extraordinary event took place during the graduation ceremony. To the surprise of many, the eighth-grade class had an unprecedented representation of twenty-three sets of twins, making up a remarkable 10% of the year group. Headteacher Tamatha Bibbo, taken aback by the unexpected numbers, described the event as "quite unusual." This was reported by SSPDaily.
At Pollard Middle School, both identical and fraternal twins shared in the pride of graduating together. Typically, the school sees anywhere from five to ten sets of twins at most, considering they have an average of 450 to 500 students per grade. Therefore, the staggering number of twins in this year's graduation class left everyone amazed.
During the memorable "moving up" ceremony, the school paid a special tribute to these twenty-three sets of twins, acknowledging their unique bond and achievements. Additionally, all graduates from Pollard Middle School are required to complete a minimum of ten hours of service learning within their communities. Notably, the Needham Exchange Club offers five community service awards annually. In a momentous first, a set of twins, Lukas and Sameer Patel, received one of these prestigious awards along with a generous donation to their chosen charity.
Although one student, who is also a twin, had a sibling attending a different school, the collective presence and impact of these twins were truly significant. As per the National Center for Health Statistics, twins account for approximately 3% of live births in the United States. Yet, the concentration of twin students among this year's middle school graduates defied expectations and convention.
The graduation ceremony served as a testament to the remarkable sense of community and shared experience within the Pollard Middle School. The achievements and contributions of these resilient twin students will certainly be remembered and celebrated for years to come. This report was prepared by SSP.
