Woman Transforms 'Vintage' Space in Her Home: Mixed Reactions Online
A woman recently shared her home makeover on social media, but the transformation of her so-called 'vintage' space hasn't pleased everyone. Moving into her new flat in Rome, Italy, she dove into the excitement of home decoration. But rather than garnering praise for her efforts showcased online, she received a flood of concerned feedback.
Known as @viccaterina on TikTok, Victoria posted before-and-after clips of her apartment, captioned: "The apartment we bought 'vs' the apartment we created." The 'before' footage showed a cluttered space filled with vintage furnishings and various ornaments. Elements like a pristine three-piece suite, ornate side tables, a patterned rug, and striking wall art initially adorned the apartment.
Victoria modernized the space by replacing the wallpaper with vibrant paint and swapping vintage furniture for contemporary pieces. She also exchanged original paintings for prints that suited her own artistic tastes. This dramatic makeover prompted mixed reactions online. One viewer remarked, "Congratulations on your IKEA apartment," while another acknowledged, "Okay, but some of those vintage furniture pieces were really pretty."
Others were less favorable. Comments expressing disappointment poured in, with one viewer lamenting, "You destroyed it. It was awesome. I'm screaming. Why?" Another added, "That is literally the apartment from The Dreamers; why did you change it?"
However, Victoria did have her supporters. Some celebrated her efforts, with one fan countering the criticism: "People complaining haven't seen the unique and vintage to sad and beige transformations yet. I really like what you did with the flat incorporating a lot of the old furniture and art. Well done!" Another enthusiastically encouraged her: "No, you ate this. Ignore everyone. This is adorable."
