A girl became obsessed with a guy because of a rare disease: what she did

An 18-year-old girl from China, who called her boyfriend more than 100 times a day, was diagnosed with a "love brain."

A girl with the surname Xiaoyu from Sichuan province became so obsessed that it seriously affected her mental health and turned her boyfriend's life into a nightmare.

Doctor Du Na said that Xiaoyu's disturbing behavior began in her first year at university. The couple developed an intimate relationship, but soon he began to feel uncomfortable because she began to depend on him heavily and needed him constantly.

She not only persuaded him to keep her informed of his whereabouts but also wanted him to respond to her messages at any time of the day or night.

One day, Xiaoyu called him more than a hundred times, but he did not answer. She was so upset and angry that she started throwing things around the house and breaking them.

Her boyfriend called the police, who arrived just as she was threatening to jump off the balcony.

Xiaoyu went to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, also known as "love brain." Du said that this condition can coexist with other mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. The doctor did not disclose the cause of Xiaoyu's illness but said that it often occurs in people who did not have a healthy relationship with their parents as children.

She added that people with a mild form of the disease, whose lives are not affected, can recover on their own by learning to manage their emotions. However, people with severe symptoms will need medical help.
