A man who voluntarily became homeless and went broke to prove that he could earn a million dollars in a year stopped the experiment after his health began to deteriorate rapidly.

This was reported by SSPDaily.

Mike Black wanted to prove that anyone can earn a million dollars in just 12 months. However, he did not achieve his goal, leaving the project after 10 months, having earned only $64,000, because "health and family come first."

Mike named two of his autoimmune diseases that caused "chronic fatigue" and joint pain. He focused on treatment.

Mike, who called himself an "entrepreneur," initially tried to get off the street when he gave up his home, car, and livelihood because he was denied water and could not find a place to sleep. However, a man with a van allowed him to stay at his place and he earned his first $300 selling furniture online.

Mike explained that he started the challenge to show people that it is possible to build an empire through the simple power of hard work. He said in a YouTube video: "I knew a lot of people who lost everything during the pandemic and got depressed. I even had a friend who lost a $10 million business overnight."

However, Mike later announced that he was ending his challenge early, saying, "I have officially decided to complete my journey. As much as it pains me to do this, especially two months before the end, I feel it's the right thing to do. I have had to face many challenges personally, and recently something happened that really pushed me over the edge. My personal health has deteriorated to the point where I really need to start taking care of it. We haven't shared this with you throughout the project, but I've been going to the doctor all the time."

Mike called the project the Million Dollar Comeback Challenge, which he thought would mean building a new business and expanding it to a million dollars. But it didn't happen.

After a while, he came up with a way to make some money. Mike explained: "One of the best things to sell is tables. I started taking ads on Craigslist in the free section, posting them on Facebook Marketplace, and selling them for a profit. I acted as an intermediary, handling all the logistics between the buyer and the seller."

After five days, he made enough money to buy a computer. Two weeks later, he secured an office space and then started renting a house. Three months later, he started working as a social media manager and came up with his own coffee brand.

He said: "Look where we are now. We're not making millions of dollars, but look at the fact that we could potentially live in a mansion without paying rent. I get calls from big tech companies offering to run their social media. I'm launching a coffee brand, I have a coffee dude in Austin. So everything is going in the right direction. Three months ago, I was homeless!"

Mike questioned the project on day 138 when he found out his father had colon cancer and eventually announced it: "My health and family were much more important than the challenge, so I decided to stop the whole project." With 60 days to go, Mike said: "We should always remember to help those in need because this may be the opportunity they need."
