Mortified Mum Stops Daughter's Internet Use After Finding 'Inappropriate' Lyrics
A mum was left speechless after discovering that her daughter had been listening to 'inappropriate' songs on her tablet. She promptly banned her from using the internet.
The incident occurred when the mother's younger daughter was caught streaming a song named 'Notes App Girls!' on YouTube via her Nintendo Switch. The account of @girlygirlproductions detailed that the song initially seemed innocent. The lyrics began: "Notes app girls do a sparkle slay, Girls can read and write, Girls can be black and white, I say all this to say, boo, that girls are poets too."
However, the tone of the song quickly shifted to vulgar content. The later lyrics read: "In my notes app, I write down, How much cocaine I need to buy. In my notes app, I write down, How I need d**k from a guy who's bi." These lines left the woman recording it visibly shocked. She captioned the video clip: "My mum found this in my little sister's watch history on YouTube now she's not allowed to go on the internet anymore," adding, "I'm actually lost for words."
The video garnered more than 1.1 million likes on TikTok, where users echoed the woman's astonishment. Comments ranged from stunned reactions like, "I said 'What's wrong with it?' too early," and "It sounded so wholesome in the beginning," to, "My jaw dropped once and then dropped again." Some defended the young girl by claiming there was no way she could have anticipated the song's drastic turn.
Despite the controversy, a few people in the comments section expressed their affection for the track. One commenter said, "I need this on Spotify NOW," and another added, "Adding to my playlist now...rip to your sister's internet access."
Overall, this episode underscores the importance of monitoring children's online activities to ensure they are exposed to age-appropriate content.
