Newly Formed Throuple Faces Family Rejection Over Polyamorous Lifestyle
Mickey and Joel, having been together since high school in the US, transitioned to a polyamorous relationship last year by including Jaida. Initiated by Mickey's suggestion due to her bisexuality, the trio faced uncertainty initially but soon embraced the setup, finding Jaida through dating apps, the Mirror reported.
In a conversation with the YouTube channel Love Don't Judge, Mickey highlighted the unchanged core values despite their unconventional relationship: "Being in a polyamorous relationship hasn't changed our beliefs. We still go to church, we still pray when we eat, wake up, and go to sleep, just as before adding Jaida."
Jaida, new to such relationship dynamics, expressed her unexpected yet affirmative experience: "I never pictured myself in this scenario, but I wouldn’t go back; I find this lifestyle enjoyable."
However, the transition hasn't been smooth with their families, particularly for Jaida. Met with stern disapproval citing religious reasons, her family's response dealt a heavy emotional blow. "I got bible scriptures after bible scriptures, and their reaction deeply affected my mental health," Jaida shared, adding, "While I still love them, we've decided to maintain our distance for now."
The criticism faced isn't isolated. Alana, 27, Kevin, 33, and Meghan, 37, another throuple, also encounter negative reactions due to societal norms. "Fear mainly drives wicked responses towards unfamiliar concepts," Alana mentioned, summarizing their shared challenges.
Despite social and familial pushback, the trio remains united, finding solace and support within their chosen family setup.
