"Once you pop, you can't stop": Pringles thief tells police
Adam Spencer, the notorious Pringles thief, made a bold statement to the police after his arrest following a string of robberies. Spencer admitted to multiple thefts, including two incidents at the same shop in one morning, SSP reported.
During his thieving spree in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Spencer managed to steal a remarkable 17 tubes of Pringles in a single swoop. However, his actions did not go unnoticed, as police officers on patrol in the area identified him as the suspect tied to a series of burglaries and shop thefts.
When approached by the police, Spencer attempted to escape on his bicycle. Officers pursued him on foot and were able to apprehend him. The suspected Pringles thief was then brought into custody.
Notably, two of the robberies that Spencer was wanted for occurred on the same morning within the confines of the same Iceland shop. In the first incident, he broke in through a back door at 2:40 am, stealing various meat products. Just a few hours later, at around 4:20 am, Spencer returned to the scene and made off with over £300 worth of stock.
Aside from his exploits in Iceland, Spencer targeted three other shops in the area.
PC Dean Fenton of Nottinghamshire Police expressed concern over the impact prolific thieves like Spencer can have on communities. He emphasized the distraint felt by individuals who repeatedly witness their local establishments become targets. Recognizing the gravity of burglary as a serious offense, Fenton expressed satisfaction in linking Spencer to the two burglaries, as well as the shop thefts, leading to his appearance before the courts.
At his court hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, Spencer, a resident of Northfield Close in Sutton-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to two burglaries and three thefts. On the same day, he received a six-month suspended prison sentence for 12 months. Additionally, Spencer was ordered to compensate £200 to the affected parties and complete a mandatory six-month drug rehabilitation program.
