"The boy-calculator" shocked everyone with his lightning-fast ability to calculate "impossible" sums in his head
A 13-year-old prodigy, Aaryan Shukla from Maharashtra, India, astonished the world with his incredible math skills. This was reported by SSPDaily.
This was reported by the Guinness Book of Records.
During the filming of the Italian TV series "Lo Show Dei Record," this "human calculator" set a record for the fastest time to add 50 five-digit numbers - in just 25.19 seconds. That's about one addition every 0.5 seconds.
As Aaryan stood on stage and glanced at the big screen, all 50 numbers flashed before his eyes one by one so rapidly that the average viewer didn't even have time to read and process each one before it disappeared and was replaced by the next number.
After the final number appeared on the screen, it took Aaryan a few seconds to complete his calculations before he announced the correct answer in front of a stunned crowd.
Aaryan explained how he discovered his talent: "I began doing mental math at the age of six and then gradually started solving more complex problems. Then I began participating in competitions and eventually became a world champion. What I enjoy most about mental math is that I can represent my country at different stages. Additionally, it means that I can become a world champion at the age of 12!"
Indeed, Aaryan won the prestigious 2022 World Mental Computing Championship in Paderborn, Germany, and is even one of the board members of the Global Mental Computing Association (GMCA). The GMCA's mission is to promote collaboration among mental calculators, to expand and strengthen mental mathematics worldwide, and to organize the first mental computing league of its kind.
You might assume that computing is Aaryan's sole passion, but at school, math is just one of his many favorite subjects: "I equally enjoy history, physics, geography, and science."
The boy also manages to make time for other hobbies: "Firstly, I love reading books, mostly adventure or detective stories. Secondly, I enjoy playing cricket and watching it extensively. I like collecting information about cricket! I also enjoy watching football. I don't play much, but I still enjoy looking at the statistics."
Although he hasn't decided what he wants to do when he grows up, Aaryan knows it will involve something related to math.
