The couple lost 105 kg together and look unrecognizable: before and after photos

A couple from the UK now looks different after losing 105 kg for two.

Glenn, 38, and Sophie, 35, were afraid of dying young and leaving their children orphaned. Together they weighed 286 kg, and Glenn estimated that he consumed about 3,500 calories a day, eating extra-large pizzas and drinking 10-15 cans of Pepsi.

The wake-up call came when Sophie realized that she would not be able to continue treatment for Charcot's joint, which was causing swelling, inflammation and redness in her left ankle, unless she lost the extra pounds.

"I was a lot heavier than my wife, but she also has a disability, so she couldn't keep having surgeries while gaining weight," Glenn explained to SWNS. "We decided she needed to lose the weight. We had to make a drastic change, so we started looking for gastric bypass surgery in Lithuania."

The couple traveled to Vilnius on August 17 for a $9,000 "package deal" that included gastric bypass surgery, flight, hotel, rehabilitation, a "mentor," and even a taxi.

In just six months, Glenn lost 162 pounds to 95, and Sophie lost 124 pounds to 87.

"We just feel great. We can do so much more as a couple, feeling confident enough to go to the clothing store and try on new fashionable clothes," Sophie says. "Health-wise, it's been great - we have so much energy."

Sophie says they were very nervous about traveling abroad. A few months before the surgery, the couple consulted with surgeons in the UK to make sure they were making the right decision. They also met with their Lithuanian supervisor and surgeon on Zoom, who recommended a package deal.

"We used our savings and borrowed some money from family, which we've now paid back," Glenn said.

Three weeks before the surgeries, they were told to cut their daily calorie intake to 500 and eat mostly protein. They ate steaks, chicken breasts and lamb chops, which made them feel sluggish and "hungry."

Their recovery plan lasted 10 weeks, but they returned to work after just five days.

"The diet was very, very monotonous - after eating nothing but meat before the surgery, for the first two weeks we could only drink half a glass of water a day," Glenn complains. "After two weeks, we ate a lot of purees, yogurt, protein powder, and bone broth," he added. "We loved mixing in those cans of sausage and spaghetti."

Glenn said the couple was not allowed to eat solid food until the six-week mark. They lost about 3-4 kg per week and had "a lot more energy."

They say they work out separately and have different personal trainers, avoiding surgery to remove excess skin for now.

"We wanted to invest in ourselves individually, but emotionally, we're doing it together," says Glenn. "Ever since we had the surgery, we've hung a timeline of our lives together on the wall. We sold all our clothes and go shopping together for new clothes."
