Want to get your dream job: experts tell you how to achieve it
Whether you are going to change jobs next year or are looking for something new, the success of this endeavor will depend not only on your skills but also on how you organize the process. Moreover, the competition in the labor market is growing, and if you want to get a prestigious position, you need to approach the issue of applying for a job clearly and carefully.
The Daily Mail writes about this: "If you feel like recruiters are constantly stumping you, or your CV isn't getting you an interview, it could be because your cover letter is flawed." Here are some tips from experts on how to solve this problem.
Are you ready to learn?
Amy Hobley, Sopra Steria's recruitment manager, believes that instead of writing a cover letter that repeats key information already in the resume, candidates should prepare a mission statement.
It should describe in detail what you are looking for, what your goal is, and what you hope to achieve in your next position.
"You may not have the experience you need, but if you are willing to learn, grow, develop, and acquire new skills, it will lay a good foundation," she says.
Her other piece of advice: Don't be afraid to show recruiters what you're passionate about and how it relates to the position you're applying for.
Hobley explains: "We always ask how their experience aligns with our values. This usually helps us understand what's important to them. We're very passionate about culture, empathy, doing the right thing, and social values, which is what differentiates us from our competitors in the market."
Send authentic resumes
Authenticity is another stumbling block in hiring. And while artificial intelligence can be a very effective tool for speeding up the process, getting too carried away with AI chatbots will hinder rather than help you.
"You can immediately tell who wrote a resume using artificial intelligence," says Monica Berry, Talent Acquisition Officer at a leading UK e-commerce company.
"That's why I strongly advise sending real resumes that are not composed by artificial intelligence, because they give a more accurate picture of who you are."
"Candidates are using artificial intelligence to make themselves look like great professionals, but in the end, they get the opposite effect. And even if it works in terms of getting an interview invitation, it turns out that they are not as good as they seemed."
How do you see yourself in the company?
For many job candidates, listing skills and experience in their resume seems to be the most important aspect to reflect in the interview. At the same time, they often forget to emphasize how they see themselves in the company and what they know about its activities.
"Great candidates show that they value customer experience and have a growth mindset, focused on continuously developing our products, engineering capabilities, processes, and systems," said Denise Hayes, HR Director at Digital Well.
