Brothers-in-Law Break Their Own Record by Pulling Cars
Two British brothers-in-law have successfully broken their own Guinness World Record by pulling vehicles for 32 miles within 24 hours.
Record History
John Darwen and James Baker initially achieved this record together in October 2021. They pulled cars side-by-side for a distance of 22.18 miles at that time. In both attempts, the men synchronized their stopping points. This strategy allowed them to co-hold the record, which typically recognizes individuals.
The Meaning Behind Their Achievement
Baker, married to Darwen's sister Samantha, shared insights about their motivation. "What made our record different was that it wasn't about being the best individually. It was about being the best together," he explained to Guinness World Records. He emphasized the themes of brotherhood and togetherness that guided their achievement. The spirit of selflessness replaced individual ambition during their journey.
Support and Charity
During their latest effort, friend Daniel Callaghan joined the pair. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw after 14 miles due to an injury. The endeavor also served a greater purpose. Their record attempt raised funds for two charities: Redeeming Our Communities and Cancer Research UK.
