California Teen Unofficially Breaks 'Bike Surfing' World Record

A 19-year-old from California, Brock Johnson, may have unofficially set a new Guinness World Record by bike surfing for over 656 feet, UPI reported. As a member of the Santa Cruz Maniacs bike crew, Johnson was driven to attempt breaking the record upon learning that it stood at 262 feet.

"I reached out to the Guinness Book of World Records, and they told me the record was just 80 meters [262 feet]," Johnson explained to KSBW-TV. "Whenever I'm out on a bike ride, I often perform the bike surfing stunt and easily surpass 80 meters each time."

Bike surfing entails standing on the bike with one foot on the handlebars and the other on the seat. Initially aiming for 100 meters or 328 feet, Johnson astonishingly doubled his target, achieving a distance of 200 meters, equal to 656 feet.

Johnson stated that documentation of his trial has been submitted to Guinness World Records for official recognition. His fellow Santa Cruz Maniacs were not at all surprised by his feat, given his renowned bike surfing prowess and track record of performing the stunt in much more challenging situations.
