Connecticut neighborhood faces stinky situation as manure truck accident delivers unpleasant consequences
A neighborhood in Connecticut is grappling with an unpleasant and malodorous setback after a manure truck toppled over, colliding with a car and spilling its less-than-favorable cargo onto nearby properties, SSP reported.
Ann Bedard, a resident living at the intersection of Deerfield Road and Brayman Hollow Road in Pomfret, recounted hurriedly rushing toward the commotion upon hearing the crash. Much to her dismay, she beheld a distressing sight: a flipped manure truck that had struck her neighbor's car, resulting in a repugnant discharge of manure onto yards, houses, and neighboring properties.
"It was as if a cascading torrent of brown liquid descended upon us," remarked Bedard during an interview with WVIT-TV. "Suddenly, we witnessed the contents of the truck spill out like a breached sewer, saturating our property."
M. Provost Trucking, co-owned by Nicholas Provost, promptly arrived at the scene with a dedicated team to mitigate the spill's aftermath. The provost explained their procedure, stating, "Our priority is to excavate approximately three to four inches deep to ensure that no leakage occurred beyond that point. Tomorrow, we will return with fresh materials, as well as reseed and restore the areas that were dug up today."
While investigating the incident, Pomfret Fire Department Chief Brett Sheldon revealed that the cause of the crash, occurring on Tuesday evening, is still being examined. Fortunately, the truck driver sustained only minor injuries.
