D.C. Man Loses Winning Lottery Ticket for Over a Month
A man from D.C. recently faced a challenge after buying two winning lottery tickets. He lost one ticket for over a month.
According to the D.C. Lottery, the player, 57-year-old Phillip H., purchased two tickets for the August 12 Lucky for Life drawing at Anacostia Mobil. "I always buy two tickets, and I choose my own numbers. That’s my winning strategy," he explained. After realizing his first ticket was a winner, he could not find the second one.
Both tickets matched all five numbers from the drawing, granting him a prize of $25,000 yearly for life or a one-time payment of $500,000. Phillip quickly claimed his first prize, but several weeks went by before he found his missing ticket.
After searching through his old tickets, he finally located it. "I let out a big sigh of relief," he recalled. Phillip successfully claimed his second prize over a month after the drawing. He plans to use his winnings for home improvements and to purchase a new truck.
