Game of Pool Leads Maryland Man to Lottery Success
A Maryland man claims that an evening spent playing pool led to a lottery prize of $30,008.
Describing himself as a casual lottery player, the man from Anne Arundel County was at JJ's Tavern in Glen Burnie with friends when he decided to try Keno. He placed an 8-spot bet for five drawings and selected the Super Bonus option, which included the numbers 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, and 79.
After this, he resumed playing pool and chose to check his ticket only after Keno drawings concluded. He handed his ticket to a waitress for scanning, who soon returned with exciting news: "You won, and it's big."
"I just looked at her and said, 'Nah,'" he shared. To confirm his winnings, he scrutinized the play card's back. The combination with the Super Bonus revealed a total of $30,008, but disbelief lingered.
His wife had no such doubt about his good fortune. "She was a huge help, setting up an appointment," he said. "And, here I am."
Looking ahead, the prize winner intends to invest a portion of his winnings in the stock market.
