Lottery Gift from Mom Leads to $50,000 Prize for Maryland Woman
A Maryland woman who rarely plays the lottery won a substantial prize after receiving a Bonus Match 5 ticket as a gift from her mother, UPI reported. Maryland Lottery officials shared that while the woman does not usually participate in lottery games, her husband and parents often do and occasionally gift her tickets.
The lucky woman humorously requested a winning ticket from her mother, jokingly saying, "I'm tired of working and I need you to get me my winning lottery ticket." In response, her mother purchased a $6 Bonus Match 5 ticket for the September 23 drawing, even using the birthdates of her grandchildren to select the numbers.
When the woman checked her ticket, she discovered she had indeed won, earning her a $50,000 prize. Although not enough for retirement, the win was a significant boost. The woman plans to use the winnings to pay off her college loan debt and is also contemplating a future trip to Paris.
This instance illustrates how a family's generosity led to a welcomely unexpected financial blessing for the Frederick woman.
