People Can't Stop Calling This Woman Looking Exactly Like Emma Watson 'Hermione'
A woman identical to Emma Watson says people frequently call her "Hermione" and stop her on the street. Kari Whitmore, aged 34 and six months older than Watson, became known as a lookalike after the initial Harry Potter film's release in 2001. This misidentification continues to happen regularly. This is prepared by SSP.
Based in Indianapolis, Kari has amassed over 700,000 followers on TikTok. As a crew scheduler for an airline, she shared with What's The Jam: "I’ll get comments like, ‘You look like that girl from Harry Potter, what’s her name?’ or ‘Has anyone told you that you resemble Emma Watson?’ [...] Once, someone said, ‘Don’t you have movies to be making?’ while I was working at a previous job."
Kari acknowledges the resemblance, stating, "I can see how, at first glance, I might be mistaken for Emma – but I still see myself as my own person. I believe we share similarities, yet each of us remains uniquely different."
Kari first recognized their resemblance when the first Harry Potter film gained popularity, at just 11 years old. "After the initial film's release, I had not seen it yet. One day, at a post office, a pair of young girls stopped me, pointing and calling me ‘Hermione.’"
Confused, she later looked it up at home and discovered Hermione was Emma's character. As a passionate reader, she then dove into the Harry Potter series to learn more about Hermione.
Kari feels flattered by the comparison, appreciating Emma’s impressive career. She believes Emma seems like a genuinely cool individual. Online, people often insist she's the star, while in person, Kari enjoys attending conventions dressed as Hermione, with curled hair, robes, and a wand, drawing attention and admiration.
"When I’m dressed up as Hermione at a comic convention, I receive numerous comments and stares. One evening, after a long convention day, I was walking out to dinner with friends. A woman approached me, requested a hug, stating Hermione was her favorite character. Additionally, I’ve had moments where I received free drinks during a Harry Potter-themed bar crawl."
