Semi-Truck Accident Impacting Southbound 5 Freeway Near Downtown Los Angeles
On August 27, a semi-truck carrying french fries crashed on the southbound 5 Freeway near Stadium Way, resulting in a massive backup during the morning commute in Los Angeles, ABC 7 reported. The California Highway Patrol reported that the truck crash occurred around 3:20 a.m., spilling dozens of boxes of frozen fries across the roadway and causing the freeways to be completely closed.
All southbound lanes were blocked, and drivers were diverted to alternative routes, leading to significant traffic congestion. Crews with front-end loaders were dispatched to clear the spilled fries, and by 11:15 a.m., two lanes were reopened to traffic. Some lanes remained closed into the early afternoon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
This incident caused significant disruption as the cleanup efforts continued into late Thursday morning.
