Victor Adeboyejo: Bolton Wanderers Striker Injured by 'Hefty Sneeze'
Victor Adeboyejo, a striker for Bolton Wanderers, sustained a "nasty back injury" triggered by a powerful sneeze, Sky News reported. The 26-year-old forward was initially set to participate in a Bristol Street Motors Trophy group game against Barrow on Tuesday but was forced to withdraw due to back and ribcage discomfort.
According to Bolton's manager, Ian Evatt, the injury initially occurred during a recent match against Charlton but was exacerbated by the sneeze. "Victor has been dealing with a painful back issue, and his sneeze aggravated it. He even felt a crack between his ribs," Evatt explained. The manager added that they suspect it may be a cartilage or muscular issue, pending further examination from a scan.
"It's incredible but true that a sneeze could cause such an injury. Victor is a robust boy, and it seems even his sneezes reflect that strength. When players start getting injured from sneezing, it makes me question a lot," Evatt remarked.
Despite Adeboyejo's absence and other players missing due to injury and international duties, Bolton managed a 3-2 victory over Barrow in their EFL Trophy campaign. The team, currently positioned 18th in League One, also secured only four points from their first four league games of the season.
