100-Year-Old Woman Reveals Surprising Secret To Youthfulness
A centenarian woman shares her secret to beauty and youthfulness after 100 years. Patricia Smith recently celebrated her milestone birthday at Caen Stone Court retirement home in Arundel, West Sussex, where she has resided for 14 years as a beloved resident. This is prepared by SSP.
The retired national hurdling champion enjoyed her special day surrounded by family and friends, complete with balloons and cake. Patricia takes great pride in her appearance, always having red lipstick nearby. While many may assume that makeup is her key, Patricia attributes her radiant complexion and vitality to two simple things: moisturizer and Merlot. When asked to explain her longevity, she highlighted her fondness for sports, anti-wrinkle creams, and, of course, wine.
Wearing a tiara and a sparkling sash, Patricia stated about her skincare routine, "I use day and night cream, and so far, I have no wrinkles. I treat myself to a glass or two of Merlot—or Baileys—each day. Enjoying life is crucial; life is too short." She advises others to "live life to the fullest." Patricia has always embraced fitness, starting from her youth as a member of The Spartan Ladies Athletics Club. She became the National 3 As 75 yards hurdling champion in 1938 and could have possibly represented England at the Olympics if not for the war.
Born in West London, Patricia trained as a secretary and honed remarkable shorthand skills, reaching 160 words per minute, skills she still uses today. During World War II, she married sailor Julian Smith, and the couple had a daughter named Julie. Reflecting on her life, Patricia expressed gratitude for the love surrounding her. "I have been truly spoiled with many celebrations, including one in a local pub with family and friends from Caen Stone Court, and a visit from the Arundel town crier," she added.
In a similar vein, Olive Westerman, who turned 100 last year, attributed her longevity to avoiding "strange men" at all costs. This retired nursery nurse from South Kirby, West Yorkshire, believes that her work with children has kept her heart young. Still, her true wisdom lies in steering clear of odd individuals. She advised, "Avoid talking to strange men and you'll be just fine. Embrace happiness and appreciate your life’s blessings."
