Disappointed with parenthood, the couple decided to give their three-month-old daughter up for adoption: "Not a good fit"

A father has caused outrage online after he said that he and his wife are giving up their three-month-old daughter for adoption because she is "not right" for their family.

He wrote about this on Reddit, SSPDaily tells.

He explained that his 33-year-old wife, Katherine, returned to work just two weeks after giving birth, and their daughter Elizabeth is mostly taken care of by her grandmother.

"I go to work later than my wife, so I take the morning shift, but she comes home earlier than me, so she goes on the evening shift. During the day, Elizabeth stays with my mother-in-law," said the new father.

However, he noted that Katherine neglects her child's emotional needs: "Katherine really has nothing to do with her. Even if she cries, if it's not for a real reason, like hunger or getting wet, Katherine doesn't do anything to calm her down. I know that babies sometimes cry for no reason and that taking Elizabeth in her arms every time she cries might reduce the crying, shouldn't she at least take her in her arms and calm her down a little? Plus, even when she's not crying, Katherine doesn't communicate with her."

Having difficulty communicating with their baby and wanting to return to their old life, the couple decided to give their three-month-old baby up for adoption. Before making the move, the 35-year-old father sought advice from Reddit users about the adoption process.

He asked: "I'm going to consult a lawyer this week, but I'd prefer to have some idea of what to expect. My wife and I want to put our three-month-old daughter up for adoption. Are there any laws that affect this process? Can our family members file a lawsuit against our decision to adopt? How long can we expect to wait?"

Users were stunned and asked how they came to this decision. The father admitted that their daughter was "not a good fit for the family" and that the birth of the child made it "inconvenient for his wife to take a vacation."

He shared: "My wife told my mother-in-law about our decision to give the child up for adoption. She reacted badly, which is to be expected, and screamed a lot. To make a long story short, my mother-in-law first blamed her late ex-husband for my wife 'acting like this' and then me for our decision. I was called all sorts of names and I learned that my mother-in-law didn't like me from the beginning. It got to the point where Katherine eventually threatened that her mother would never see our daughter again if she didn't behave."The couple then told the grandmother that she could adopt Elizabeth if she wanted to, otherwise she would be placed with another family: "Our daughter will be adopted. This is not subject to discussion. My mother-in-law could take custody if she wanted to."

However, according to him, after that his wife's mother took the girl, left the house and stayed in a hotel. The woman allegedly agreed to adopt her granddaughter.

"Communication with my mother-in-law has been rare since she left. As far as we know, she and Elizabeth are currently with my brother's wife. Going forward, we are cooperating as much as we can to ensure a smooth transition of legal custody. My mother-in-law has so far refused any offers of financial assistance, but we are ready to pay child support if/when the time comes."

In the comments, some people praised him for "saving his daughter from a lifetime of suffering," while others criticized him for "not even trying to be a father" before giving up.

As a reminder, the woman who adopted the child frankly admitted why she regrets it. She would like to turn back the clock and change everything.
