Experienced NASA Astronaut Claims to Have 'Felt' Jesus During His Space Trip
NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins, who has accrued an impressive 168 days in space over his 15-year career, made a striking declaration: he felt Jesus' presence during his space missions, bringing him immense comfort. Speaking at the National Eucharistic Congress, he emphasized that even beyond Earth, Jesus accompanies us, aligning with the Day 5 theme, "To the Ends of the Earth." This is prepared by SSP.
Hopkins described a powerful moment during a mission where he said, "Quite literally sitting in my heart, in the pocket of my spacesuit was the spirit, the body of our lord Jesus Christ. You can't imagine the comfort it gave me knowing no matter what happened over the next nine minutes when that rocket hurled me into space, accelerating me to 17,000 mph, no matter what happened, Jesus Christ was with me."
He shared how his wife Julie and their children, Lucas and Ryan, offered him tremendous support, but it was ultimately God's presence that allayed his fears during daunting space flights. Raised Catholic but having strayed from faith, Hopkins felt a void until his career in astronomy led him back to spirituality.
Recounting a pivotal moment, he confessed, "Seventeen astronauts have previously died in the pursuit of space exploration, so spiritually I wasn't ready for that level of risk and as it often happens in moments like that, I pray. God pointed me to the door that had been right in front of my face ever since I met Julie, a door to the Catholic church. That I had physically walked through so many times during our marriage but I had never really fully entered until I went through the process of converting to Catholicism."
