Ohio Eatery Skyrockets to World Record with Hot Dog Photo Challenge
Ohio-based eatery Skyline Chili commemorated its 75th anniversary with an innovative record-breaking attempt on social media. Collaborating with fans, the Cincinnati-based chain successfully shattered the Guinness World Record for the most hot dog photos uploaded to Instagram in a single hour, UPI reported.
Using the hashtag #SkylineChiliWorldRecord, the official window for this record-setting feat was Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Although Guinness required 500 qualifying wiener photos, participants more than doubled that number. A Guinness adjudicator verified the qualifying images, although the precise final tally is still pending confirmation.
The winning spirit was nurtured as the first 250 Instagram contributors received $15 Skyline Chili gift cards, and all participants were entered into a draw to win 500 free cheese coneys (famous chili dogs). Simultaneously, the broader birthday celebration during this window featured festivities at Fountain Square. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event offered precious memories of coney-loving camaraderie at Skyline and delectable exchanges with other regional favorites such as Graeter's and Dewey's Pizza. Cincinnati’s spirit icons – mascots from the Bengals to Cyclones – joined the anniversary party.
To crown the jubilant day, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval's presence signified city-wide unity. On social media and in person, his words offered a Happy 75th Birthday celebration and acknowledged Skyline's community service efforts. The acknowledgment extended as Skyline's soda provider, The Coca-Cola Company, announced forthcoming donations targeting food insecurity in Cincinnati.
Wider recognition came through Skyline Chili Day, thanks to Mayor Pureval christening the occasion, cementing its impactful 75-year journey. With its hot dog world record in hand and dedication to its community, Skyline continues enriching Cincinnati's culinary heritage.
