Truck Spill Causes Tomato Mess on California Highway
A highway in California experienced a major disruption when a truck carrying tomatoes overturned and spilled its cargo onto the road. Transit officials reported that a section of Interstate 5 in Patterson had to be closed for several hours due to this incident, SSP reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck toppled onto its side around 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, resulting in tomatoes sprawling across both the roadway and the shoulder. The scene was described as a sea of red, with tomatoes strewn all over.
In response, the diligent crews of Caltrans District 10 swiftly intervened. Their primary objective was to clear the tomatoes from the highway's center divide, which allowed northbound traffic to resume its journey with minimal delays. Their tongue-in-cheek remark about drivers catching up (ketchup pun intended) with the cleared pathway lightened the mood amidst the chaos.
As for the cause of this unfortunate accident, it remains unclear at this time. The authorities are actively investigating the incident to determine what led to the truck overturning on the highway. However, despite the significant tomato spill, the road was efficiently cleared, and normalcy was restored by 12:30 p.m., as the route was fully reopened to traffic.
