Wedding guests frustrated by egocentric newlyweds
Your wedding day holds immense significance, symbolizing the start of a new chapter in your life. However, it is equally important to consider the experience of the guests you have invited to join you on this special occasion. This is reported by SSP.
Planning a wedding involves numerous details, from selecting a suitable venue to planning the menu and organizing the reception. While it is essential for the day to be memorable for the couple, it is equally crucial to ensure that guests enjoy the moment too.
Regrettably, one couple recently faced severe backlash online for overlooking their guests' comfort during their wedding. Reports indicate that the bride and groom, inconsiderate of their attendees, left them "hungry for hours" while subjecting them to bone-chilling temperatures throughout the ceremony.
Sharing her grievances on Reddit, one guest expressed having an "awful time" at the event and opted to leave as soon as possible. She voiced her disappointment in the couple's failure to consider the impact of their decisions on their guests.
Several complaints were raised about the wedding, starting with the fact that it was conducted outside "in the dead of winter". Despite lower costs associated with a winter wedding, the couple chose not to compromise on their desired venue, subsequently subjecting guests to freezing temperatures.
The ceremony's delayed start time was another source of distress, as per the anonymous guest. Moreover, the wedding itself lasted over an hour, causing guests to endure the merciless cold for a total of at least two hours.
The food situation exacerbated the guests' dissatisfaction. The event's commencement around 1 pm led many to expect a lunchtime reception. However, the main course was finally served at 5:30 pm, leaving everyone famished and irritable after hours of hunger.
Unfortunately, waiting for the courses became another ordeal for the attendees. The woman mentioned that by the time each course arrived, a significant amount of time had passed—an experience she later discovered was intentional. The newlyweds wanted prolonged breaks between each meal to capture more photographs, unwittingly subjecting their guests to extended waiting times.
In frustration, she remarked, "It took an excessive amount of time to receive our first course, then even more time between subsequent courses, and an additional delay before the dancing began after our meal. What should have taken one hour turned into a marathon of over two and a half hours. Dancing finally commenced at around 8 pm. Apparently, the couple requested the slow service to allow for an extended photo session. While I understand their wish, compelling guests to wait idly for approximately seven hours is simply impolite."
Responding to the Reddit post, commenters swiftly criticized the couple's actions, with many stating they would have left the reception long before its conclusion.
One person expressed, "If I had been there and the ceremony still hadn't started after 20 minutes, I would have left, gift in hand." Another added, "Enduring two hours in outdoor January conditions would have been unbearable for me. In your shoes, I would have departed as well. You have a commendable tolerance!"
