Woman Hospitalized After Viral Cucumber Salad Trend
Many enjoy embracing viral trends, but one woman learned a painful lesson from her experience. After trying a cucumber salad recipe popularized by TikTok creator Logan Moffitt, she ended up in the hospital. This is prepared by SSP.
Moffitt achieved fame by promoting the idea of consuming an entire cucumber in one go. He enthusiastically states in his videos, "Sometimes you need to eat a whole cucumber, and I'm going to show you the best way to do it." His clips have garnered over 200 million likes, captivating numerous fans.
Bec Hardgrave from Brisbane, Australia, attempted one of Moffitt's recipes. "I told myself I won't fall victim to another trend - but here we are," she confessed in a video. Unfortunately, her attempt didn’t go as planned. Like Moffitt, she utilized a mandolin cutter to prepare her cucumber. However, she neglected to use the safety guard, resulting in a severe injury.
Bec described the accident, saying, "I sliced my hand on that mandolin like a tomato." She displayed her hand, bandaged and swollen. She shared, "Here is a warning for everyone. I had just bought that mandolin and didn't fully inspect the box, which included a guard." Bec noted that Moffitt didn't seem to use the guard in his videos, leading her to assume it was safe to operate the mandolin without one.
With a grim expression, she elaborated on her treatment: "No stitches because it's too wide to stitch. The doctor said he could have stitched it if I brought the skin with me." Unfortunately, now she has to wait for healing.
Responses flooded in as viewers reacted to her warning. One commenter expressed, "I get so anxious every mandolin video. I cut myself badly when the guard fell off. Traumatised. Please slow down." Another advised: "I keep seeing people hold the cucumber very low. Hold it up, keep an eye on the cutter to avoid cutting your finger."
