Woman Shocked by Word Choice in Children's Book from Temu
Parenting can be costly, prompting some to seek out budget-friendly options. Mum Camille Wight turned to Temu for books for her daughter, choosing "cute" and interactive options. Her daughter loved exploring the pictures and sensory components. This is prepared by SSP.
During a road trip to visit her parents, Camille started reading the books aloud. She described various animals, using simple terms like "caterpillar" and "rabbit." Suddenly, she encountered a shocking word on one page. Instead of "rooster," "hen," or "chicken," the book used the term "c*ck."
Camille raised her eyebrows at the camera, admitting she had asked her partner to verify the page. "I get that’s the technical term," she observed but questioned why it was chosen for that particular section.
In the comments, other users noticed the odd juxtaposition with "horse" on the nearby page. One viewer even suggested it seemed intentional.
Yet, this wasn’t the only issue in the book. Curious about other potential errors, Camille opened "Jungle Tails." Instead of a "Raccoon," she found a "Raccoo." "I like that one," she joked.
Additionally, a "Sika Deer" was labeled as "Cervus Nippon." While this term is technically accurate, it might be too complex for a baby book. Camille mused that it appeared as though it had been run through a translator.
Despite these quirks, she found the books "so cute" and decided to let her daughter enjoy playing with them.
